Tanzania avocado exports reached 52,000 tonnes in the 2025/2026 season, surpassing the 2030 target of 40,000 tonnes and rising 237% from 15,432.77 tonnes in 2020/2021. Export earnings grew 120.4% to USD 97.2 million, national output rose 36.24% to 203,473 tonnes, and the government plans to distribute 500,000 more seedlings in 2026/2027.
The data was released recently by the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA) at the Third National Avocado Stakeholders Meeting in Dodoma, which reviewed progress in the sector and set priorities for the 2026/2027 financial year. Export volumes rose by 237% from 15,432.77 tonnes recorded in the 2020/2021 season, marking more than a threefold increase over a period of five years.
