In its Annual Insurance Market Performance Report 2025, launched in Dodoma on 16 October 2026, the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) reports that the Tanzania insurance market grew 68.4% to TZS 2.55 trillion (± USD 985 million) in gross written premiums, with health insurance up 426.2% after National Health Insurance Fund contributions were included. Total assets rose 64.7% to TZS 4.06 trillion (± USD 1.57 billion), claims paid increased 136.4% to TZS 1.29 trillion (± USD 497 million), and penetration reached 2.11% of GDP, with 26.8 million people covered.
