DSE Weekly Report – Week 25, 2025: Equity Turnover Soars 141%, JHL Up 8.06%, MCB Drops 10.71%

Week 25 of 2025 saw equity turnover on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange surge 141.46 % week-on-week to TZS 31.27 bn on 38.75 m shares, driven by 34.97 m CRDB shares, while bond turnover fell -41 % to TZS 148.26 bn and total market capitalisation inched up 0.5 % to TZS 19,327.41 bn. The All-Share and Banks, Finance & Investment indices gained 0.50 % and 0.40 % respectively, the Commercial Services index dropped 5.31 %, JHL advanced 8.06 %, and MCB declined -10.71 %.

Turnover and Volume Equity turnover reached TZS 31.27 bn, up +141.46% from the previous week’s TZS 12.95 bn. Share volume jumped to 38.75 m from 10.52 m, a +268.34% increase. CRDB dominated activity with 34.97 m shares, followed by VODA (2.26 m) and KCB (0.45 m) – together accounting for 97 % of total volume.

Market Capitalization Total market capitalisation increased to TZS 19,327.41 bn at the end of Week 25 2025, a rise of 0.5% from TZS 19,231.68 bn the previous week. Domestic market capitalisation moved in the opposite direction, declining -0.84% to TZS 12,740.41 bn from TZS 12,847.68 bn. Bond Market Bond turnover totalled TZS 148.26 bn, down −41.29% from Week 24’s TZS 252.57 bn.

Government securities supplied TZS 148.10 bn across 108 deals, led by 25-year 15.75% paper worth TZS 31.25 bn (10 Jun), a 7-year 10.08% tranche of TZS 30.46 bn (12 Jun) and 20-year 15.49% issues totalling TZS 24.38 bn (19 Jun). Corporate bonds added TZS 0.16 bn from 9 deals in 3- and 5-year notes with coupons of 9.50%–12.50%. Indexes During Week 25 of 2025, only the Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) Index posted a gain, rising +0.40%.

The All-Share Index (DSEI) inched up +0.50%, the Tanzania Share Index (TSI) slipped −0.83%, the Industrial & Allied Index (IA) fell −1.04%, and the Commercial Services Index (CS) dropped −5.31%.
