Role Overview

Perseus Mining Limited is seeking a meticulous Inventory Accountant to oversee the valuation, control, and financial reporting of all mine site inventory at a large-scale gold mining operation in Tanzania. The role covers consumables, spare parts, fuel, reagents, explosives, ore stockpiles, and gold-in-process (GIP), ensuring accurate cost control, IAS 2/IFRS compliance, and alignment with Tanzanian regulatory standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Inventory Accounting & Valuation: Maintain accurate ERP inventory records across all warehouses. Calculate monthly adjustments, post cost allocations, perform write-downs, and account for ore stockpiles and gold-in-process under IAS 2 standards.
• Reconciliation & Month-End Close: Perform detailed reconciliations between physical stock, inventory modules, and general ledger (GL) balances. Manage goods-in-transit, cutoff procedures, and un-invoiced receipts.
• Cost Control & Usage Analysis: Analyze departmental inventory consumption (fuel burn rates, reagent usage, tire life) against standard benchmarks, collaborating with Mining, Processing, and Maintenance teams. Africans& Diaspora
• Stocktakes & Internal Controls: Coordinate periodic cycle counts and full stocktakes. Enforce strict controls around receiving, issuing, write-offs, and maintain segregation of duties between supply chain and finance.
• Provisioning & Data Integrity: Analyze slow-moving, obsolete, and excess stock to calculate required provisioning. Maintain master data integrity (item codes, units of measure, costing parameters) within the ERP system.
• Compliance & Audit: Prepare inventory schedules and documentation for internal/external audits, ensuring full compliance with IFRS, group reporting templates, and local tax regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.Perseus Mining Job Vacancy
• Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, CIMA certification (or active progress toward completion) is preferred.
• Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years specialized in inventory/stock accounting within a heavy industry or capital-intensive environment.
• Industry Experience: Direct experience in mining (gold preferred), oil & gas, or manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on proficiency with ERP systems and inventory modules (e.g., SAP, Pronto, Sage, or similar platforms). Sound knowledge of IAS 2 (Inventories) and Tanzanian financial regulations.
